In Loving Memory of David Symons
We miss you so much. You are forever remembered and held in our hearts.
Our beloved department member and dear friend David Symons , Ed.S., MT-BC (working on his doctorate at UGA) graduated from Brewton-Parker College with a Bachelor's degree, then went to The University of Georgia, receiving his Master’s and Ed.S. degrees. He started his association with our music therapy department first as an intern, then as a much-loved and valued member of our team. His knowledge and application of current musical style (and technological savvy) brought fresh ideas and energy.
He passed away on January 18th, 2013 at the age of 30.
David's caring spirit permeated everything he touched - and his humor brought us much joy and hilarity. Just being in his presence was a wonder. May his brilliance and sensitivity show us the way.
A library and memorial fund in his name is filling with contributions as we speak.
His radiant life and work was honored at the SER-AMTA (Southeastern Region of the American Music Therapy Association) conference in Chattanooga in the spring of 2013.
